Kill Uncle Duke?

I had no idea...

"But the Doonesbury cartoon strip has dined off of Thompson's reputation ever since Uncle Duke first showed up in the strip many, many years ago. There was no doubt about which ranting, doped up, alcohol besotted journalist he represented.

You could tell from the cigarette holder."

that's actually what got me into reading his work. I can't recall exactly when but Virgil (you've met Virgil (uncle in law I suppose)) had a few of the eary anthologies of Doonesbury and it was a clear link to Thompson.

Speaking of comics, did you see that the trib didn't run Boondocks today (Monday)?

Doonesbury was always controversial in Lexington (big suprise there). They eventually moved it to a permanent place on the op/ed page.
