Wellbutrin...

The stuff happiness is made of. If you have a short fuse, get angry quickly, are moody, fuck things up when there is really no need for it, and generally make life miserable for those around you (and yourself!!)... Here is your answer!

And then life will be grand... or at least there will be improvement.

*this is not intended to be medical advice. I suggest you do not get your medical advice form a blog. If you do, you are an idiot and deserve everything that happens to you.

Powerful Thoughts!

Monkeys Control a Mechanical Arm With Their Thoughts
Two monkeys with tiny sensors in their brains have learned to control a mechanical arm with just their thoughts, using it to reach for and grab food and even to adjust for the size and stickiness of morsels when necessary, scientists reported on Wednesday.
Now, I am sure this is a great breakthrough. However, knowing Mankind, watch us create various killing devices that we can control by thoughts from a distance. Houses rigged with guns here and there that go off when they receive the thought signals for defense or offense. Tanks, helicopters, guns, machine guns, robots... The choices of limitless.

Isn't this Cruel?

What sort of a life has this been? She should have allowed to die 58 years ago. Imagine for all these years the only view she has had was the yellow tube in which she was planted. Why?

I hope she is breathing a sigh of relief.

Are we that Different?

This video plugging Avaaz.org exposes the myth of a fundamental clash between Islam and the West as a problem of politics—not cultures. It received over 1.4 million views and 37,000 comments on Youtube (right up there with Star Wars Kid), and helped secure Avaaz.org as the place for international online activism.

OK... Google Scares me Now.

In order to sign up, you give Google authorization to divulge your medical information to third parties. This is knowns as a HIPAA authorization. First financial information, now medical information. Little by little your most sensitive information is now accessible by anyone who has the means to get them.

I suppose soon there will be a Health Rating in the same way as there is a Credit Rating and so you may not be able to say, get a job since your Health Rating may be lower than required because you don't brush your teeth often enough and so may be in risk of heart problems... and the employer doesn't want to see his health insurance go up or even take the risk.

I can think of many other scenarios.

Fly Little Bird... Fly!

Few years ago I went sky diving. It was one of the most exhilarating act I have ever done. It was a tandem jump and I was hooked to this professional jumper who told me that everything was fine and then we moved to the edge of the place at 14,000 ft and simply allowed ourselves to fall out of the plane. As we were falling out we rolled and as we were rolling, I saw the airplane moving away from us... It was an amazing feeling to see something that probably I will never get to see again: seeing an airplane from outside at 14,000 ft!

Slugging... I Heard This on NPR

Interesting... There ought to be more of this everywhere. I KNOW Los Angeles would benefit from something like this--if it is not there already.

Slugging and Slug Lines Information For Washington DC
Slugging is a term used to describe a unique form of commuting found in the Washington, DC area. It has thousands of vehicles at its disposal, moves thousands of commuters daily, and the best part, it’s FREE! Not only is it free, but it gets people to and from work faster than the typical bus, metro, or train. It's unique because it is not a government sponsored commuter program, but one created out of ingenuity from local citizens to solve commuter problems.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I could not bring myself to post pictures that came along with this article.

World's most obese man vies for different record
Mexico's Manuel Uribe, once the world's most obese man, is now vying for a different record: the human who has lost the most weight.

Wow... Bravo to California's Supreme Court

Every so often, some decision has such an amazingly broad and important impact that getting it right is simply unexpected. Most of the time, the Law tries to keep the status quo--because it is simpler. When the Court takes bold action and actually supports fundamental changes, they must be applauded.

In all likelihood the matter will go to the US Supreme Court because now there is a Federal Question since if a Court marries two people of the same sex in California and for some unknown reason they move to say, Alabama, the Alabama Court has to recognize their marriage. It's in the US Constitution and it's called the "full faith and credit clause."

Unfortunately , I am not sure the partisan composition of the US Supreme Court being what it is, that this matter will survive the right wing, conservative, close and simple minded, arrogant and self righteous views of the majority in that body.

Cross your fingers.

Top California court backs gay marriage
SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The California Supreme Court ruled on Thursday the state cannot bar same-sex marriages, marking a major victory for gay rights advocates that may have national implications.

"Under these circumstances, we cannot find that retention of the traditional definition of marriage constitutes a compelling state interest," the court said in a majority decision.

"Accordingly, we conclude that to the extent the current California statutory provisions limit marriage to opposite-sex couples, these statutes are unconstitutional."

Looks Like Obama Will be the Next President.

... That is if the Democrats have the wits and the guts to withstand the major and various swiftboating that will take place once the race is "on" and the people can overcome the major and consistent effort to prevent the minorities and other non-white, non-affluent citizens to cast a vote.

We'll hear about Rev. White at nauseum and the "liberal" media will gladly oblige the GOP by keeping anything the Rev will do in the headlines.

We'll hear about how Obama is a Muslim...

We'll hear about how Obama has attended an Islamic Religious School...

We'll hear about the wearing of the flag...

We'll hear about __________. Whatever the GOP can conjure up to peddle to the public.

And again... the "liberal" media will whole heartedly embrace all these lies, half truths, misleading facts and put them up there, in major fonts, on page one in their headlines.

Yeah... if the Democrats have the wherewithal to survive what has worked so well in the past.

Edwards endorses Obama

Edwards endorses Obama

"Democratic voters in America have made their choice, and so have I," John Edwards said as he endorsed Barack Obama at a campaign event in Grand Rapids, Mich. Edwards can release the 19 pledged delegates he had won and encourage them to vote for Obama.

The Seeds we Sow...

Artificial Foods and Corporate Crops: Can We Escape the 'Frankenstate'?
It's known as the "Doomsday Vault," and in it will be stored millions of seeds and mankind's hope for the future of the world's food supply. The idea is that in the event of massive ecological destruction, those seeds could be used to reconstruct the planet's agricultural systems. Exactly who might remain to begin replanting the earth after such a catastrophe is only one of the questions this astounding project raises. The more immediate question is, are seeds in peril?

The answer is yes, especially the seeds that provide us with food, fiber, and fuel. Both the diversity and the integrity of seeds are threatened, in the wild and on our farms. They are being put at risk by agricultural technologies, patents and corporate ownership, and the overall degradation of the environment. The plight of seeds is one of the most important environmental stories of our time. Until now, however, this critical issue has not received the attention it deserves.

Knut young and old

Grown Knut 'cries out'
When Knut was nuzzling his handler, Thomas Doerflein, to the delight of an adoring public, the objections of outside experts were brushed aside. Knut, raised by zookeepers after his mother rejected him after birth, brought in an estimated $8 million in extra revenues for the Berlin Zoo last year.

But times change, cubs grow up and those experts may have been on to something after all. "With Knut, it's clear that he has imprinted on humans, and when neither his keeper nor visitors are there he cries out."

[...]

On a recent afternoon, spectators fluctuated between a dozen and just a
pair. The fading star lay with his head on his paws, his fur stained a
yellowish brown from rolling around in sand and dirt.

"Is that Knut?" a group of teenagers asked. Told that it was, they
looked disappointed, one said, "Oh," and barely a minute later, they
had gone.

On the comment section:

"He is a psychopath relative to his relationship and need for human interaction and attention COMPARED TO NORMAL POLAR BEARS and other animals in captivity.

An adolescent male Polar Bear (and most other non human mammals) should be exhibiting typical behavior patterns of aggressiveness, wanting a mate, etc... not just rolling around in dirt crying for people to dote over him.

The animal probably had mental issues at birth that was known to the mother, which could be a good reason he was rejected. Mothers don't reject cubs out of spite or meanness, it is natures way of culling animals who are not fit to care for themselves as all will have to eventually.

The real disappointment is not that Knut has lost his cuteness, but, that his fate was interfered with in the first place by humans for their own financial gain and entertainment."
